Dave has over 16 years’ experience with GSK, having joined the company in 1992 at the Worthing site. He is currently responsible for the manufacturing operation at the Montrose site. He is PhD qualified in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Glasgow University and holds an MSt in manufacturing leadership from Cambridge University.
Dave started as a Development Chemist at Worthing. After various laboratory-based roles, he became Section Leader in 1995, responsible for the development of Famciclovir (anti-viral product) and Pranlukast (respiratory product). He transferred to Irvine in 1997 as a Lead Chemist and became Quality Control Manager in late 1997. In 1999 he moved to a Commercial role at Irvine, and then became Site Technical Development Leader in 2000. In 2003 he became Actives Production Director before becoming Operations Director in 2005, responsible for all production, site utilities and maintenance activities.
In 2007 Dave took up a secondment to GSK House, working with Roger Connor on the GMS Agile project. He was involved in the Quality, Technical and GMS governance design activities. In October 2008 he took up the role of Montrose Site Director.
Dave is married to Alison, who also works for GSK, in Quality Shared Services. He has three daughters – Charis, Rosie, Julia– and a son, Jack.
Dave spends most of his spare time with his family but he also enjoys football and Scottish history.
